About Us

The Knowledge Management Forum is a pure online academic journal (ISSN 2095-5472, CN11-6036/C) supervised by the Chinese Academy of Sciences and sponsored by the National Science Library, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It aims to promote the creation, organization, and effective utilization of knowledge in the knowledge era, and to facilitate the rapid, extensive, and effective dissemination of research achievements in knowledge management.

In brief, knowledge management refers to the management of knowledge and the management carried out by applying knowledge. Knowledge management can create value for organizations, help them grasp development strategies, lead to successful decision-making, and is an important way to improve the adaptability and innovation capabilities of organizations.

This journal focuses on research achievements in aspects such as the production, creation, organization, integration, mining, sharing, analysis, utilization, and innovation of knowledge. Any issues related to knowledge management in governments, enterprises, universities, libraries, as well as other various physical and virtual organizations, including theories, methods, tools, technologies, applications, policies, plans, best practices, etc., fall within the scope of this journal's coverage.

This journal was founded in 2007, originally named the Online Journal of Library and Information Service, and has been renamed as the Knowledge Management Forum since 2013. To maximize the public benefits of scientific research achievements, since 2013, this journal has implemented an open access policy, immediately and fully publishing all papers in an open access manner, following the CC BY licensing method, and encouraging and supporting self-archiving. Regarding the content of the Online Journal of Library and Information Service published before the name change in 2013, our journal will provide full-issue open access by the end of June 2025 for the public to download for free and use for learning purposes, etc.

The Knowledge Management Forum shares the office with the Editorial Office of Library and Information Service and adheres to strict academic research norms and academic journal quality standards. It will gradually adopt internationally advanced manuscript review systems and editorial processing systems.

Immediate, complete OA publishing: To maximize the public benefit of scientific research results, all research papers published by the journal are immediately and completely open access (OA). Authors and their institutions are particularly encouraged to implement self-archiving.
Flexible, lenient length requirements: As an entirely online publication, there are no strict limitations on the length of papers, but it is suggested that they typically range from 6,000 to 20,000 words.
Rapid, convenient publication of results: The manuscript review cycle is short, implementing publication by article and archival by issue, ensuring that research results are published in a timely manner and that the right of first publication is protected.
