[Purpose/significance] Publishers are key stakeholders in the process of openly sharing scientific data. Publishers cooperate with funders, data centers and research institutions to contribute to a culture of openly sharing high-quality research data. Whereas publishers have placed muchemphasis on open access to scientific data, recently they are engaged with research data in particular. [Method/process]This study provided an overview of the current policies, practices and provided policy recommendations for publishers. [Result/conclusion]These recommendations will assist publishers in furthering the goals of open access to scientific data in their organizations and networks.
