Compilation of Land Border Governance Documents in the Qing Dynasty: Achievements, Characteristics, and Significance

Abstract

[Purpose/Significance] Since the Qing Dynasty compiled a wealth of documents on the governance of land and rivers, sorting work is of great practical significance to the compilation of contemporary documents on the governance of border areas, the improvement of the discipline system of historical philology, and the modernization of border areas. [Method/Process] This paper expounded the achievements of compiling archives and comprehensive documents in the governance of lands and rivers, discussed the characteristics of compiling from the dimensions of theme, content, and style, and explained the political, academic, and contemporary value of compiling. [Result/Conclusion] Exploiting and making good use of the compilation results of documents on the governance of land and rivers in the Qing Dynasty is of great significance in the governance of contemporary frontier areas, building a Chinese national community and a strong sense of the Chinese national community.
