[Purpose/Significance] This article aims to reveal and explore the profound impact of breaking the "Five Only" on the professional title evaluation of the library and information series, as well as the reform path, by studying the revision direction of professional title evaluation documents. [Method/Process] Through online research, this paper systematically sorted out the changes brought about by the "Five-Only" requirements to the revision of the series of evaluation criteria and conditions for books and materials in 31 provincial administrative regions. It qualitatively analyzed the basic orientation embodied and the scientific evaluation methods adopted, correctly analyzed the deep meaning of "breaking ", and clarified the scientific connotation of "only" and "not only", then further explored the implementation path for making professional title evaluation more scientific and comprehensive in the era of knowledge innovation. [Result/Conclusion] Professional title evaluation that meets the needs of knowledge innovation requires the support of multi-dimensional evaluation subjects, diversified evaluation indicators, and various evaluation methods. It should fully reflect the innovation orientation and actual performance contributions, and strive to achieve mutual promotion between the production of results and the cultivation of talents.
